The Role

Significant business growth and increasing demand for our client's services have created an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Business Development & Sales professional to provide leadership and management within the Sales and Marketing function. The role is responsible for all marketing activities, lead development and nurturing, building an effective sales pipeline, and account management processes to ensure an exceptional customer experience. The team, led by the professional, is also responsible for delivering the growth plan with support from other teams as the business expands.

The professional will stay informed about evolving customer needs and identify additional unmet needs where our client can provide solutions. Collaboration with product/process owners and the directors will be essential for co-creating new solutions. The professional will have the chance to apply their experience to continue building a high-performing team and a sales excellence process aligned with the company's objectives. This role allows them to have a global impact and contribute to addressing climate change.

Our client has an entrepreneurial culture and is in the process of developing systems for efficient scaling. The professional should be comfortable with managing through this transition and possess the ability to lead their team through the journey.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

- Provide effective management of the sales and marketing function; develop and coach the team for high effectiveness; drive continuous improvement in processes and people.

- Collaborate with the senior management team to deliver results in the best interests of the company.

- Establish a highly effective lead generation, lead nurturing, and development process to achieve company goals. Define key performance indicators to guide actions and refine tactical strategies over time.

- Set attainable and challenging targets in consultation with directors; coach and develop team members for high effectiveness; ensure the team meets company sales targets.

- Manage and enhance resource productivity and build team capacity for the future.

- Approximately 50% of the role will focus on business development, with the remaining 50% dedicated to team management.

Required skills and experience

- Experience in selling professional consultancy services to high-level stakeholders, preferably in the sustainability/energy efficiency or engineering services industry. Strong listening skills and the ability to comprehend customers' business drivers and challenges.

- Proven experience in leading a sales team to high performance, with well-developed coaching skills.

- Demonstrable processes for lead generation and business development.

- Displays key attributes such as curiosity, creativity, and excellence.

- Proficiency in CRM tools and best practices, e.g., Salesforce or Hubspot.

- Possesses a growth mindset and the ability to continuously learn and adapt to changing business needs. Experience in using problem-solving techniques, e.g., A3.

- Specific knowledge of the life science industry is not essential.
